Fred ‘Langley’ Nelson has long been considered the ‘go-to’ flight instructor in Central Mississippi.
A 34-year veteran as an Air Force medical technician and administrator, Langley has over 25,000 hours of flying time as well as hundreds of former students, many of whom are flying for large commercial airlines. Langley is rated to fly both single engine and multi-engine land airplanes, as well as single engine seaplanes. He has his recreational pilot, private pilot, instrument, commercial, instructor, and multi-engine ratings. Over 20,000 of his hours have been flown during student instruction. He has instructed students as young as 10 years of age and as old as 75.
“So many instructors today really have no interest in being an instructor”, said Michael Hutton, co-owner of Hutton Aviation. “Most instructors are simply trying to gain 1500 hours in the air so they can apply to work for the airlines. The minute they hit 1500 hours, they are gone, leaving their students stranded and struggling to find another instructor. Langley is devoted to his students. I can’t begin to explain how glad I am I found Langley and trained under him.”
Langley loves it when his students are ready for their solo cross country flights so he can have them fly to Greenville, MS and enjoy a steak dinner at Doe’s Eat Place!
Luke Sims is an up-and-coming Flight Instructor in the Jackson Metro Area.
A graduate of Mississippi State University, Luke is looking to foster the next generation of pilots in Mississippi. Being a natural teacher, he instructs on a personal level and with care for his students. His regimented and hands-on approach is second to none.
Luke always had a passion for aviation but didn’t fully realize his dream until college. He achieved his Private Pilot’s License in Starkville and began his aviation career. He then pursued and acquired his Certified Flight Instructor, Instructor Instrument, and Multi Engine Instructor licenses. Likewise, he hopes students of all ages realize their dreams of flying.
“I realized aviation was my goal while I was still in college,” he says. “It’s never too late or too early to start flying. ’I always wanted to do this’ can be you on your first lesson! It would be our pleasure to teach you at Hutton Aviation.”
“Luke is always ready to work with new and current students in pursuing their passion,” said Steve Hutton, Co-Owner at Hutton Aviation. “We are thrilled to partner with Luke and provide him the flying platforms he needs to succeed.”
